Custom Team Gear

No crew is complete without customized Team Gear! Show your team pride on the water with almost any kind of sailing gear - from hats and t-shirts, to decorated foul weather gear.  Almost any item on our website can be customized and we do not have a minimum order for this service.

We do not offer fixed pricing, since every job is different and we want to provide you with the best pricing possible.  However, we have provided a rough estimate in our descriptions below so you have an idea of the costs involved.  These amounts are estimates only and we will provide you with a full quote upon receiving your design specifications.

We also offer discounts on bulk purchases, so please contact us at 888-994-4832 or by email at info@whitecapsmarine.com to discuss your needs.  While we always recommend a good quality garment from a recognized Brand, we are also able to provide generic options for items like t-shirts and hats (such as Sport-Tek, Port Authority, etc).

We happily offer the following decorating services:

EMBROIDERY

Embroidery is a great all-around method for customization and will work on almost any garment.  It is extremely durable and has a great appearance.  It is important to note that embroidering waterproof garments will compromize the waterproof properties of the garment in the localized area of the design (since embroidery punctures the garment).  It is sometimes possible to place a waterproof barrier on the back of the embroidery for an additional charge.

Your artwork will need to be digitized into an embroidery friendly file (file type .dst).

One-time charges range from $50 - $95 depending on the complexity of the logo and the ultimate thread count.  Most of our projects fall into the lower part of that range.  If you already have a .dst embroidery file, we will try to work with that and you would not be subject to the one-time fee.  Please note that this is not always possible, especially with very old embroidery files.

Per item embroidery costs are generally around $8 per location, sometimes slightly more or less depending on the complexity and size of the design.

SCREEN PRINTING

Screen printing is another great all-around method for customization and is mainly used on shirts.  Screen printing results in a great vibrant color and is very durable, though it will eventually begin to 'crack' and flake away from the garment.  This typically only happens after several years of use.  Screen printing uses stencils to print your design and one stencil is used per color.  Due to the set-up fees involved, screen printing can be quite costly for small orders and if possible, we will suggest another method of printing for your to consider depending on your needs.  For large orders, screen printing will usually be the most cost-effective method.

Screen printing CAN be done on waterproof garments, however this is not always possible.  We will discuss your options on a case by case basis.

We require a vector file (.ai or .eps) of your design.  If you do not have a vector file or need a design created for you, we can also assist you to do that for an additional fee.

Set-up fees vary based on the size of the design and number of colors.  A screen set-up fee of approximately $40 is charged per location AND color.  Please note that the "Under Base" is counted as a color, so for example a 1 color design will have 2 set up fees.  The screens are kept on hand for up to 6 months, so any re-orders within that time frame will have reduced set-up fees.  After 6 months, they will have to be set-up again.

Per item printing costs are dependent on the quantity printed and become cheaper with larger volumes.  For small orders, costs are generally around $6 per location, sometimes slightly more or less depending on the complexity and size of the design and quantity ordered.

DYE SUBLIMATION

Dye sublimation is a great printing method used mainly on technical shirts, rash guards and pinnies made from polymers or polyester.  This process involves using heat and pressure to print the inks directly into the fibers of the shirt.  Because the ink is embedded into the fibers, it will not impact the shirts breathability or ability to wick moisture.  As compared to screen printing, the ink will never fade, crack or flake away leaving you with a design that will last as long as your shirt does!  Set-up fees are for sublimation are minimal making it a great choice for smaller orders.

Dye sublimation can only be used on WHITE or LIGHT GREY colored garments.

We require a vector file (.ai or .eps) of your design.  If you do not have a vector file or need a design created for you, we can also assist you to do that for an additional fee.

There is a one-time charge of approximately $40 for your design.

Per item printing costs are generally around $6 - $8 per location, sometimes slightly more or less depending on the complexity and size of the design and quantity ordered.

DIRECT TO GARMENT (DTG)

DTG printing is similar to dye sublimation, but used for cotton garments.  This process works much like an inkjet printer where an inkjet head moves horizontally over the shirt to print the image onto the surface of the garment.  Set-up fees are for DTG are minimal making it a great choice for smaller orders.

DTG can only be used on WHITE or LIGHT GREY colored garments.

HEAT TRANSFER

Heat Transfer is a heat applied vinyl onto a garment.  Think of it like a sticker!  This is generally the best method to use on waterproof garments and can also be used on technical shirts and rash guards where sublimation is not possible (for example with black shirts) and screen printing is not desired (maybe due to cost).  Heat transfer may impeded the breathability of a garment and will eventually flake off similar to screen printed material.

We require a vector file (.ai or .eps) of your design.  If you do not have a vector file or need a design created for you, we can also assist you to do that for an additional fee.

There is a one-time charge of approximately $40 for your design.

Per item printing costs are generally around $8 - $12 per location, sometimes slightly more or less depending on the complexity and size of the design and quantity ordered.
